We don’t care much about game controller usage but we’re interested in testing them. For Android, there’s the Game Controller Test app that works as a gamepad testing interface for reviewing HID Game Controllers. This one works mainly for the benefit of developers and gamers who may want to check out every controller available.
According to its developer Ankit Chowdhury, the app is now the most downloaded gamepad testing interface in the world. It’s ideal to use because it offers support for a wide range of controllers, gamepad buttons, bumpers, analog sticks, DPAD, and triggers. You can even customize controller button values if you need to.
The app has been available for some time now but the latest update is the more stable release for Android Marshmallow. More controllers were added to the list and ad frequency has been reduced. If you’re on the Game Controller Test, you may notice that default assignments usually work for most game controllers. However, there’s still a possibility they won’t. As a solution, just manually assign functions by doing a long press on the button name. You may also reset the buttons assignments to default values by pressing on the reset button you’ll see on the Action Bar.
