Tablets with great built-in functioning styluses or smart pens are surprisingly still a rarity in the market. So whenever something comes up, we get a bit excited. If you’re living in South Korea and on the lookout for one, then you might want to keep your eyes peeled for the Samsung Galaxy Tab A with S Pen, which will be available there starting this May. It may not be the most high-end of tablets, but this S Pen is definitely an advantage for this tablet.
The Galaxy Tab A has been announced in the international market, but this is the first time that there has been an S Pen variant. And naturally, it would be available first in Samsung’s home turf. The 9.7-inch XGA display will already come with Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box and will run on a 1.2GHz quad-core processor. It will still have its non S-Pen variant, and that one will have a 1.6GB RAM while the one with the S-Pen will be slightly higher at 2GB RAM, but both will have a 32GB internal memory. When it comes to the camera, it’s not really that great as it will sport a 5MP main camera and a 2MP front-facing one.
Aside from having Lollipop, the Galaxy Tab A will also come pre-loaded with Microsfot apps, and will also have Kids Mode. Given its low specs, this might be targeted for younger users who are asking for a tablet from their parents or for schools that would give out tablets for students for their lessons.
The one with the S-Pen will be priced at around $450 with LTE support while the WiFi one will only be at $370. The Galaxy Tab A without the S Pen will be around $327. The tablets will be available by May this year but there’s still no announcement if the S-Pen variation will also be sold in markets outside South Korea.
