Even though people probably very rarely used it (or maybe not at all), it will probably come as a surprise for the new owners of the Samsung Galaxy S7 to realize that the OEMs default music and video players are no longer included in the new flagship. There is no official word from Samsung as to why this is, although the presence of other pre-installed apps would seem to indicate that they know that people would rather use something else to play their precious media on their brand new smartphone.
What we’re referring to is the fact that Google Play Music and Google Play Movies have replaced the default Music and Video players on the Galaxy S7. So aside from being able to play the local media that you will store on your device, you will also be able to stream, rent, or buy both music and movies from their extensive library. And since Samsung doesn’t want any more accusations of bloatware, might as well get rid of things that most people won’t use right?
In the Galaxy S7, Samsung seems to be continuing their partnership with Microsoft, as the well-liked productivity suite is also pre-installed, specifically Word, Excel, Powerpoint, One Drive, and Skype. Since a lot of people now do their work on their devices, this pre-installation is probably a welcome thing rather than an annoyance.
And anyway, if you don’t want them on your device, you can uninstall the apps. Or if you want the original Samsung Music and Video player for some reason, you can get it from the Galaxy Store.

Has it been verified that you can uninstall the Microsoft stuff? As far as I can tell, you can’t uninstall it from the Note 5, which is a pain.
Well done Samsung, finally! Just a shame I can’t uninstall the Google apps too, but should be able to disable at least, because I always use 3rd party indie dev apps wherever I possibly can. I wonder what else they haven’t included? Anything Microsoft will be immediately uninstalled as a matter of principle too. I don’t have quite so much trepidation about the fact I’ve just pre-ordered my first Samsung device in 5yrs now in the form of a sim free S7 Edge. Thank you for the info AC…

I used it everyday and i hate using the google music app. So its a downgrade for me. *Sigh* i just wish they put out an apk for the factory one so i could get it back.
