After weeks of rumors and leaks, Samsung has officially released the Galaxy A8 (2018) and Galaxy A8+(2018). The 2018 models of the mid-range series have been the subject of speculations since early December. We know the duo is mainly similar to the Galaxy S8 and S8+ but with slightly lower specs. Those two had the onscreen home button but for the Galaxy A8 and the A8+, they won’t have such. The on-screen navigation keys remain for the mid-range.
Unfortunately, the home button on the new phone isn’t as pressure sensitive. We don’t even know if a hard press is possible. You can use it though by double tapping on the Always On Display to wake the device. The AOD must be enabled always. Otherwise, you will need to use the power button just so you can wake the device again.
People are disappointed about the absence of pressure sensitivity on the A8 and A8+. We don’t know what made Samsung decide on it but it could be to maintain the low price of the devices. There is the Infinity Display but sadly, but not all features may be enjoyed by the A8 phone owners. We guess it’s a slight inconvenience but that’s what you get (or don’t get) with mid-range and affordable phones.
