Don’t expect a major overhaul from Google+, just because this is version 8.0.0. They themselves acknowledge that this update, their 11th this year, is a little more “modest” and low-key, but still pretty important, especially for those who are concerned with reporting abuses from other users as well as looking for help and giving feedback concerning the app. The update has also brought users the ability to post from on top of the home screen, making it easier and more accessible.

While the Floating Action Button that you’re already familiar wth (if you’re a regular Google user) is most of the time pretty helpful, there are times that it’s easier for you to access the top of your phone’s screen. So with the latest update, you now have the option to start your post from the top of your home screen. Just tap the “What’s new with you?” prompt and then go ahead and post a status, picture, video, link, etc. You still can use the FAB of course if your fingers are nearer the lower right part of your phone.

You also now have to provide additional information when reporting abuse on posts, to ensure that they are getting the correct information before taking action. You will choose whether it’s spam, sexually explicit, violent or dangerous, hate speech/harassment/bullying, or something else. The send feedback and help options are now included in the side menu for easier access whenever you might need them.

There are also bug fixes and accessibility issues that have been fixed with this update. G+ Android Update 8.0.0 is already rolling out to users, so check if your account is already included so you can update it.
