With the hundreds of games and apps out there in the Google Play Store, it’s hard to find and filter the ones that would be best for children. But Google Play has come out with a “family-friendly experience” that would make discoverability easier for parents looking for material that will not just entertain their children, but have a bit of learning and education on the side. One of the apps included in the launch is a new version of the best-selling game, Fruit Ninja, and this time you can become a Math Master.
The game is called Fruit Ninja: Math Master, of course. And there is even a back story with Truffles the pig trying to be rescued from the Lost Tablets of Fuitasia by Katsuro and his friends. Unlike the other Fruit Ninja games where you just hack and slash the fruits, this game involves different modes where kids can practice their addition, subtraction, and multiplication, but in a fun way. Each of the games that you play will be graded, so kids will want to do their best, if they have the competitive spirit, that is.
Being included in the initial batch of the Google Play family-experience initiative is a boost in itself for the game, but has given developer Halfbrick the “confidence to pursue a business model…which i quite risky,” says their legal officer Kate Hynes. To be one of the featured apps, there should be no advertising, in-app purchases or online connectivity, as these are things that kids do not need to be exposed to.
You can download Fruit Ninja: Math Master from the Google Play Store for just $4.99. Halfbrick is also offering a free, exclusive sticker pack that kids can use to create postcards featuring the Android robot.
