Free stuff is almost always met with either pure joy or suspicion. So when FreedomPop announced they were offering free calls and messages (with limits of course) to users for the rest of their lives (or at least until the company is alive), then some thought this was heaven sent while some are waiting for the catch. Well so far, they haven’t revealed the catch yet, but what they have announced is that they are extending the free service to UK residents.
What they’re offering is 200 text messages, 200 minutes of free calls, and 200MB of data, and that’s just for starters. You can add more to these freebies by filling up surveys or downloading coupons. And if you’re one of the first 10,000 users to sign up with them, you actually get 1,000 minutes, 1,000 text messages and 1GB of data free, but the caveat is it’s only for the first month.
Another great thing that FreedomPop offers, at least in the US for now, is that users can share their allocation with family members and friends, if you feel like you won’t be able to use all 200 texts and 200 minutes. You also have the option to roll it over to your next billing period. And if you’re nearing the end of your free allocation, you’ll get a message alert so you won’t get charged for your excess usage.
FreedomPop is looking at expanding their free offerings to other countries as well. They’re looking at adding seven more in the next 12 months and then by 2017, they want to add twenty more countries.
