US-based car makers Ford is making an effort so that they do not get left behind in the in-car infotainment system space as it debuts the MyFord Mobile app extension. The app will be made specifically for smartwatches, which means Android Wear for Android users and the Apple Watch on iOS, even as Ford brings online its new SYNC 3 infotainment system.
The MyFord Mobile app extension gives users data such as driving range and battery charge for hybrid or electric vehicles. The app can also track the vehicle, very good for people who are not very good in finding their way around parking areas or those who easily forget where they parked.
As you can see from the images above, the app will tell you if your hybrid car is charging and shows you a fuel gauge readout. The MyFord Mobile app will also allow users to have lock/unlock capability, if vehicle is connected to your personal network via your phone or your smartwatch.
Ford said that the new SYNC 3 system – the one that will pair up with the MyFord Mobile app – will be brought to its vehicles in North America, including the 2016 Ford Escape, Fiesta, F-150, Mustang and Transit. If you’re in the market for a new Ford vehicle, you might want to take this into consideration.
