As March Madness is alive and kicking, basketball is once again on the minds of Americans (well, those who are into the sport at least). And just in time for college hoops hoopla, Facebook has added a “hidden” game in the Messenger app, just in case you and your friend were bored or something. It doesn’t take a lot of skill or brains to play it, but it can get addictive at times so there should be a word of warning before you flick your first basketball.
Once you’ve updated your Messenger to the latest version, all you have to do to be able to play the game is send a basketball emoji to any of your friends. Then you can already start playing the game, which as we mentioned, doesn’t take a lot of skill but can still be a fun way to waste your extra time. All you need to know is that there is a digital hoop and there is a digital basketball. The rest is up to you.
Obviously, when the ball goes in after you’ve flicked it, you get a point. If you miss, you’ll get a crying emoji to remind you that you fail at life (at least in this game). And of course you get to start over again, points erased. There is no regular scoreboard, but you’ll see your “high score” flashing every time you get a point. If you want bragging rights, you can screen cap and post. But don’t let your boss see your high score or he might think you don’t do anything but flick hoops during office hours.
The basketball mini-game will only work if you’ve updated to the latest version of Facebook Messenger. So enjoy shooting digital hoops if your basketball game isn’t that impressive anyways.
