Given the chance and the money, we would all probably want to own a pair of truly wireless, cordless earphones. It will free us from the encumbrance of wires and give us the freedom to move around easily while still listening to our favorite tunes or audiobooks. However, most of the ones available in the market are a tad bit too expensive or the quality may not be as good. A new Kickstarter project wants to offer you Fireflies, a pair of earbuds that are not bank draining, especially if you support the campaign.
The wire-free earbuds works can be paired to your music source if it has Bluetooth 3.0 or 4.0 support. So you can play music or any audio from smartphones, tablets, computers, TV, and other devices that are supported. The earbuds can play up to 3 straight hours on just one charge, but it also comes with a charging pod that can give you additional charges of up to 3 times before you’d have to charge the pod itself. So that means up to 12 hours of audio listening goodness (with a few breaks in between of course).
But in terms of features, of course the earbuds are a bit limited. You will only be able to play, pause, and skip to your next song, with no volume adjustment. It also doesn’t have any built-in microphone since it’s only meant for listening. While it can actually withstand your sweat when you’re working out, it’s not waterproof, so don’t take a swim or get caught in the rain.
For extra security in your ears, it comes with locking wings that will secure the Fireflies in the inner curve of your ears. If you back the project on Kickstarter, you’ll be able to get it at just $79 as opposed to the $149.99 MSRP when it’s released in the market. Delivery of the crowd-funded orders is expected in September.
