The Fire OS is getting an update which means the latest Fire tablets released this 2015 will get the boost they need. The latest Fire OS update has just rolled out for the Fire Kids Edition, Fire HD 8, Fire HD 10, and other Fire tablets that run the Android-based platform. The most important feature added is the ‘Blue Shade’ which is a new setting that improves reading mode.

Blue Share enhances the reading conditions especially in dark situations. Avid readers and geeks who still like to finish their novels or comic books even in dimly lit areas can benefit from this because color temperature is shifted away from the screen. The result is less blue light that affects a person’s ability to sleep. Simply put, Blue Shade reduces exposure to blue light that according to a medical research affects how one sleeps.

Another important Fire OS improvement includes those that will benefit the children and their parents. The Activity Center was enhanced with more monitoring tools that can measure browser or app histories and length of use. Adults will now have a glimpse into how long or what apps the kids usually use. There is also a new web browser called ‘Kid Browser’ that allows children to only surf over 40,000 age-appropriate whitelisted sites and videos on YouTube.

The upgrade is known as Bellini and this particular build is expect to arrive on older Fire HD models like the Fire HDX 8.9, Fire HD 7, Fire HD 6, and Fire HD Kids Edition. These devices that launched last year will also receive the update soon.
