Fairphone is not exactly a popular name in the Android market but the startup has just introduced what could be an Ara killer. The latter is not yet available in the market but the Fairphone 2 is another modular phone that can be availed in Europe even before the Ara. The Project ARA is promising but it might be a while before it’s released in the market.
The Fairphone 2 comes equipped with a 5-inch Full HD LCD screen, 1080 × 1920 pixel resolution, 4G/LTE connectivity, Bluetooth, WiFi, 2.26 GHz Qualcomm quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor, 2GB RAM, 32GB built-in storage, 8MP main camera, 2MP rear-facing cam, MicroSD card slot, and a 2420 mAh battery. It runs Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box and features Dual-SIM support.
Fairphone says the smartphone will be ready for delivery by November and pre-order is now open. The guys behind this smartphone are proud to have maintained financial independence so they are free from investors having a say on their work. Unlike OnePlus who doesn’t like the pre-order system, Fairphone believes they can sell about 15,000 phones by September before the November shipping data.
