If you follow or attend or are interested in a lot of events on Facebook, you probably wished there was one easy-access place where you can view all those that you want to know about, as well as manage your social calendar at the same time. Well, the social media giant has the same idea as they have now launched a new app called Events from Facebook, which is already a pretty self-explanatory name.
The Facebook stand-alone apps that they’ve been launching the past years have met with mixed results, with some of them already discontinued when they were unable to gain traction or meet expectations. Hopefully, this new one is something that people actually need and appreciate. If you are “passionate” about all the events happening around you and would like to go to as many as possible, then this will probably appeal to you. What you’ll see in the app, aside from the events you’re attending, are events that your Facebook friends are interested in, events from Pages that you like, and of course the updates from the ones you’re already going to.
You will also be able to look through event recommendations from Facebook, which are of course based on time, your interested, and more importantly, your location. There is even an interactive map that you can view in case you’re looking for somewhere to go to tonight or the weekend. You’ll also get a calendar so you can keep track of all the events that you’re going to. You’ll even be able to choose calendars that you want to add from your phone so that you won’t have any schedule conflicts.
Events from Facebook is now available for those who are in the US and who have iOS devices. Android is “coming soon” although there is no specific timeline yet. Hopefully they’ll also be able to expand to other territories.
