A few weeks after folks in the US could pre-order their Sony Xperia X smartphones, it’s now Europe’s turn. Sony Mobile is officially letting people in the region place their pre-orders for the Xperia X, Xperia XA, and Xperia X Performance (if it’s available in their country). There are also some pre-order goodies that users can avail, including 50% off a smartwatch and also a chance to get for free the Xperia X device they ordered.
The Xperia X and Xperia XA will be available in France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, and the UK. However, the Xperia X Performance and its Snapdragon 820 chipset (and IP67/68 certification for dust and water) will not be available in Germany and the UK, confirming earlier news reports, although there is still no explanation as to why this is so. To recap, the Xperia X and Xperia XA both are 5-inch devices with 64-bit processors and Android 6.0 Marshmallow, but the former has 23MP/13MP rear/front cameras while the latter has 13MP/8MP for its rear/front shooters.
To entice more people to pre-order the devices, they are offering some pretty good deals. If you want a fitness band, you can get the SmartBand 2 at 50% off when you pre-order any of the Xperia X devices through the Sony Store. And if you’re the kind of person who wins in raffle draws, you are automatically qualified in a weekly draw when you pre-order any of the devices. The contest is open to France, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, and the UK residents. If you win, you will only be notified when you’ve actually paid for your pre-ordered device and it will just be refunded in full to you.
The Xperia X is priced at around $723 while the Xperia XA is around $350. The Xperia X Performance meanwhile will be sold at around $830. The three devices will officially be released one month after the another starting this May with the Xperia X, June for the Xperia XA, and the Xperia X Performance by July.
