Before there was Pinterest, there was the Etsy website so you could look at pretty things. But more than just a repository of creative crafts, artsy items, and beautiful things, the goal of the site, and now the app, is to connect us buyers and browsers to those that produce these things you want to own (even if it’s just someday). The latest update to their app enhances that purpose as it now has a Local tab so you can connect with Etsy retailers near you.
If you’re looking for stuff and sellers that are near you, you can simply click on the Local tab which can be found on the Home page, and you’ll be able to see all those that are near you, including those who have booths at craft fairs or pop-up stores or weekend markets or even local, brick and mortar stores that carry Etsy items. For the sellers part, it’s now easier to add where you’ll be during the week, whether it’s at bazaars or sales, etc. Some retailers who are part of Etsy Wholesale can also include their physical stores in the local tab.
The app will show you retailers based on the things that you’ve previously favorited or sellers that you’ve actually interacted with. That’s one of the beauty of the Etsy community. You don’t deal with large corporations but independent, local creators. And this app is just one of the examples of how Etsy bridges the online and offline components of both buyers and sellers.
You can update your Etsy app now so you can discover the Local tab. Or if you haven’t yet downloaded the app, you can do so through Google Play Store.
