Today we’re being introduced to yet another Android TV Stick, the FAVI SmartStick. If you’re looking for a way to get your Android apps on your TV, there are plenty of options already, but the FAVI SmartStick comes with a couple of features that make it stand out from the crowd. For starters, it has a pretty low price tag, with the 4GB model coming it at $49.
If you want a bit more memory, you can pick up an 8GB variant for $79, which certainly isn’t bad. The FAVI SmartStick comes running a modified version of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, which should be another big draw for consumers faced with a bevy of choices when it comes to Android TV Sticks. It plugs into your TV’s HDMI port and supports both 720p and 1080p output.
There’s a full-sized USB port on this bad boy, allowing you to connect a keyboard or mouse (though you can also connect peripherals wirelessly if you like). It’s worth pointing out, however, that FAVI offers a wireless remote for $39 that functions as both a keyboard and mouse, so some consumers may want to pick that up instead of using the peripherals they have lying around at home. The SmartStick comes with the Google Play Store installed, and our friends at SlashGear say that it should work with any app or game that doesn’t require a specific processor.
Of course, one problem right now is that we aren’t sure what kind of processor comes packed in the SmartStick, which makes it kind of hard to compare it to other Android TV Sticks on the market. In any case, the FAVI SmartStick seems to be a pretty solid offering otherwise, sporting a easy-to-navigate interface, along with WiFi and DLNA functionality. You can pre-order the device right this instant, and orders should begin shipping out sometime next month. Are you going to pick one of these FAVI SmartSticks up?

Hi David. The SmartStick has a microSD slot built-in (up to 32GB)
The SmartStick processor is a ARM Cortex-A9 @ 1GHz with 1GB of DDR3 RAM. A remote control is included with the purchase of a SmartStick & a mini keyboard with touchpad mouse is offered as an optional accessory.
Why is the tech specs page in the favi website showing that the devices are running on android 4.0. There is no mention of Jelly bean anywhere. Also can the stick be controlled with a smartphone instead of a wireless keyboard?
Exactly, I would like to hear the answers to this questions as well…
