It’s official guys: someday, emojis will run the world. Instagram is the latest to fall for this weird kind of communication that we’ve got going as the latest update to the app brings emojis into the equation, allowing you now to add emojis to your hashtags and also searching for posts using these emoji hashtags. Oh, and before we forget, there are three new, cool filters that come with the update as well.
With some conversations being carried out entirely in emojis, and with more emojis being added everyday, it was inevitable that Instagram will finally include these in their hashtags. And now in version 6.20.0 for the Android app, it has finally arrived. So in case words are not enough to fully convey your emotions when you make your hashtags before posting, then yes, you can use that poop or eggplant (apparently, the most phallic of emojis) or even just the simple yellow smiley faces to express yourself. And you can also search for what other people are posting using the kissy-face emoji, unless you want to check out what the poop emojis are saying.
But aside from that, the latest update also brings three new filters to add to the growing collection of photo enhancing tools that Instagram offers: Lark, Reyes, and Juno. If you want your blues and greens to stand out and your reds to be desaturated, then Lark is your man, we mean, your filter. It’s a good filter for landscapes and lush greeneries. For a more hipster and dusty vintage looking photo, better use the Reyes filter. Lastly, the Juno filter gives a green tint to cool tones and your whites will glow, while warm tones pop. It is a good filter if you want to go for vibrant looking crowd shots.

The latest version of Instagram is rolling out today for all Android devices. If it hasn’t reached you yet, just be patient, and start preparing your emoji-laden hashtags for when you can finally use it.
