Calling itself “the world’s simplest game” may not seem like a great marketing hook (unless you’re the type who likes the simplest of games), but that’s what new Android game Electro Rush is calling itself. But while it may really be that simple, that doesn’t mean it’s that easy. And if you like the classic game Pong, this one is based on this, but this time in 3D and on mobile.

You even have a back story to make the game more exciting. You’re entering a tournament where you have to defeat an evil power named Arclord, who has been the undisputed champion for so long. Of course you won’t face him in the early rounds because since you’re an upstart, you need to start from the bottom and work your way up until you face the reigning terrible champion. You get to earn points when you play and then use these points to upgrade your paddle and balls. Each upgrade brings you different abilities and boosts to help you win more.

As you play different opponents, your environment changes and your playing field has a different color. The 3D graphics makes you feel like you’re in a Tron simulation. Being a simple and uncomplicated game should be enough for those who’d just like to pick up and play when they’re bored or when they just want to pass the time without thinking so much.

Electro Rush is free to download from the Google Play Store, with no in-app purchases available. There are ads within the game, and you have the option to repeat a level that you’ve just lost if you view these ads. But if you just want to start over, just skip the ads.
