Wearable tech is not just all about smartwatches, smart wrist bands, VR headsets, smart glasses, etc. Even the ones that you put into your ear have become really smarter. Enter Elbee, a Kickstarter project that aims to bring you a smart, wireless, in-ear headphones that can be controlled through the actual controls, voice commands, and even head gestures. But don’t worry, it also comes with high-quality sound, which is the be all and end all of good headphones.
The Elbee does bring to you “the best speaker technology”, including a balanced armature speaker that can give you not only a full range response, but also crystal clear sound so you can enjoy music, or understand the person you’re talking to when making calls. It also has two dedicated microphones so you can also give clear audio to whomever you’re talking to. The headphones has advanced noise cancellation algorithm and a sweat-resistant design. It’s even very comfortable to put into your ears as it has silicon earbuds in three different sizes: small, medium, and large.
When it comes to controls, this is when things get even more interesting. You connect the Elbee with your smartphone through Bluetooth. Then you can access your connected device and the apps within them by either using voice commands starting with “Ok Elbee” or tilting your head up to start using head gestures with it. If you want to do it the old school way, you can also push the main button and then the corresponding button command. The things you can access on your smartphone are the voice calls aspects, play/pause and next/previous a song on streaming apps like Spotify, send predefined text messages, connect with home automation services like Nest, and so much more.
Their Kickstarter campaign still has a long way to go in order to reach its $250,000 mark but it does have 36 days to go. To back the project and get your own pair of Elbee headphones, you can give $149, which is a $120 discount on the SRP of $269.
