Verizon announced a trio of new DROID handsets back in late-July. The handsets include the DROID ULTRA, MAXX and MINI and all were available for pre-order almost immediately. Well, in a bit of good news for those who may have been waiting, the DROID ULTRA and MAXX have arrived for in-store purchase as of today. Of course, all three remain available for online purchase.

The ULTRA is priced at $199.99 and the MAXX is priced at $299.99. Both of these reflect a two-year agreement, but otherwise, you should be able to walk into your local brick and mortar Verizon store and walk out with the handset of your choosing. At present both handsets are showing a ‘ships by’ date of August 27th for those looking to avoid the in-person retail experience.

The DROID MINI is priced at $99.99 and is expected to arrive in-store on August 29th. The DROID MINI is also currently showing a ‘ships by’ date of August 29th.

As a recap, the DROID ULTRA and MAXX share many common features. These include a 5.0-inch Super AMOLED display at 1280 x 720 along with a dual-core 1.7GHz processor, 2 megapixel front-facing camera and 10 megapixel rear-facing camera. The rear-facing camera is an RGBC camera with quick capture and the ability to capture 1080p HD video at up to 60 frames per second.

The DROID ULTRA then has 16GB of internal storage along with a 2130 mAh battery with the promise of up to 28 hours of run time. The DROID MAXX has 32GB of internal storage along with a 3500 mAh battery that is said to be able to provide up to 48 hours of run time. Both devices will arrive with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.

With that in mind, those curious about the DROID ULTRA may benefit from our earlier posted unboxing and first impressions post.

  1. Got the MAXX and I’m really enjoying it. Although I’ve only got a little over 24hrs from a full charge. Well, down to 3% battery life.
