Verizon’s R2-D2 special edition of the Motorola DROID 2 has been spotted in the wild, snapped by a convention attendee at Star Wars Celebration V in Orlando ahead of the carrier’s planned preview. Basically the same DROID 2 as is on sale now but with an R2-D2 skin, the handset is certainly distinctive and more than a little geeky.
Verizon has also kicked off a pre-registration page for those looking for further DROID 2 R2-D2 information. The limited edition Android 2.2 smartphone is set to go on sale from September 30th, but so far we don’t know quite how limited or how much the handset will cost.
