If you’re still in denial that this sixth season of the popular British upstairs-downstairs TV show Downton Abbey is its last, then you better start preparing yourself for the inevitable separation anxiety from a show you love. But as early as now, you can start preparing for a life without an actual show by familiarizing yourself with the “spin-offs”, one of which is a new mobile game called Downton Abbey: Mysteries of the Manor.
But before you start thinking that this is a mystery or RPG or adventure game (in the likes of Telltale’s Game of Thrones and the likes), it is actually a simple hidden object mystery game. If you’re a true blue fan of the show though, no game is too simple, as long as you get to spend it inside the universe of Downton Abbey. The basic premise is that by the time everyone returns to the manor, they discover that the house has been ransacked. Enter you, the detective.
The Earl of Grantham has now hired you to be the one to solve the mystery, find the stolen objects and return them to their rightful place, and return the manor to its “original state of glory”. But you will be working “undercover”, supposedly hired to just find objects, earning the residents’ trust, but eventually uncovering who the real culprit is. You can also actually compete with your friends to make the game more exciting.
You can download Downton Abbey: Mysteries of the Manor for free from the Google Play Store, with in-app purchases. It may be small compensation from losing Lady Mary Crawley and her cohorts, but at least you still get to see them, even on just your mobile device.
