It’s not news anymore for those who love the Disney Infinity game series (and if it is news for you, we’re sorry) that the media giant will be discontinuing production on their action-adventure sandbox video game. But what Disney has recently revealed is a sorta confusing roadmap for the eventual closure for all the various platforms where the game is available. The first to go will be the online services and community features but eventually, it will also spread out to other offline platforms as well.

Because there are various versions of the game, the shut down will be spread out over the next eight months and it will happen in various stages as well. The Android mobile version and the PC version from the Disney Infinity website will not be playable anymore by September 30, so you still have a month to play it as often as you want or can. But by March 3, 2017 all the online services and community features for all the versions of the game will be unavailable forever.

But if you have console versions of the game, including Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, PS3, Wii U, Wii, 3DS, Vita, and Steam you will still be able to play it indefinitely, but without the online services. Of course it will not be updated anymore, but if you still want to play the game, at least you have that option. And since you don’t know when it will be officially shut down, then you’d also want to play it as soon as you can.

There really wasn’t any solid reason given as to why Disney decided to pull the plug on all versions of Disney Infinity, but it probably means the action platformer is not making them any money despite the in-app purchases available plus advertising of course.
