The past years we’ve been seeing a curious hybrid of the analog and the digital, especially when it comes to journaling and note taking. While some would still rather stick to the pen and paper route, others have been looking at ways to combine the two. Moleskine may have hit on that winning combination with their new Smart Writing Set which lets you write on an actual paper and then instantly digitizes this through a digital pen and a special app.
The Moleskine Smart Writing Set is made up of three important things and all of them work together to bring those who are fond of writing a unique experience. First, you have the Paper Tablet, a notebook that is designed to look like a tablet with its rounded edges but is in fact made of actual paper. Then you have your Pen+, which is an aluminum pen that can actually write on the paper, but also has an infrared camera that is able to trace and digitize everything that you’re writing on your “tablet”.
Lastly, but most importantly too, you have the Neo Notes App for your Android device, where all your notes are not just saved and stored, but is also where you make all the edits and organization. It is also where you need to do all the sharing through the usual suspects (email, social networks, messaging, cloud, etc.). You can choose to save your notes in your actual handwriting or to transcribe it into digital text.
The Moleskine Smart Writing Set costs $199 but if you’ve already used up all your paper, you can also buy just the Paper Tablet for $29.95. This is already available on moleskine.com, Moleskine Retail Stores worldwide and select retail stores.
