We already know that several of the largest computer makers on the planet are looking at entering into the smartphone market. We also already know that several of the companies are looking to Android as the OS for the devices.
The Washington Post reports that Dell is working on an Android-powered device, but the device isn’t the long anticipated Dell smartphone. The device is believed to be an Android-powered MID that will connect to the Web, but not make calls along the lines of the iPod touch.
Sony has already unveiled a Walkman that runs Android, so this rumor isn’t that far out there. Using Android on the device would also allow buyers to purchase apps to install on the device and extend its functionality. There is no word on pricing or availability at this time.
