Biometrics may not be applicable yet for all smartphones or tablets, but many are saying that all future devices will probably have it one way or another. Password manager Dashlane is one of the first among its kind to integrate fingerprint authentication to their app, and they have now announced that they are adding the Samsung Fingerprint Scanner to their Android app, making it easier for users to access their passwords and personal information while still keeping everything secure (or so we hope so).

All users would need to do is to input their biometric information from your Samsung Galaxy S5, S6, Note 4, and Note Edge into the Dashlane Android app, and once authenticated, your secure passwords from the various apps and services that you have on your device will then be saved on to your Dashlane app/account. That will ensure that your passwords are saved securely and that they will not be forgotten or a document containing them fall into the wrong hands.

Using fingerprints as an authentication identifier and combining it with actual passwords has made device security supposedly an easier job. And even if your password gets hacked or stolen, you still have biometrics to help you keep everything secure (unless your fingerprint or finger gets stolen, but that’s another sci-fi-ish story).

Dashlane and biometrics technology are just getting started, according to their post, as they will be adding even more fingerprint scanning for millions of Android devices later on. in time for the launch of Android M. Now as to how many devices will have biometrics by that time, that is still up for speculation.
