Android TV as a platform may be limited but it’s not going anywhere. More OEMs are expected to take advantage of it as we advance into a future where smart home technology will soon be a standard. The mobile industry has since been established already but the smart TV game is just about to start. CNNgo is one the many apps to be available to the masses who want to be updated with what’s going on in the world.
With CNNgo, you can watch HD clips from CNN Original Series and the news. Using your Android TV remote, you are free to access a library of curated video clips on different categories from Entertainment to Politics and Technology among others. As soon as you wake up, you can turn on your Android TV device and check out the news.
The app is relatively new so only a few Android TV users are able to download the app. We’re interested to know how this app fares and one user happened to leave a not so favorable review. According to a certain Ed R, this app doesn’t offer any live feed or cable log in. What the app offers are only video clips from 30 seconds to 1.5 minutes. It’s just one review but for him to make an effort and leave a feedback, he must have been really annoyed that he downloaded the app.
CNNgo wants to be your ultimate source for news and events on the Android TV by giving instant access to clips. Problem is, the clips are only clips. You won’t find any content longer than 3 minutes. Honestly, you can’t get much from that length of video since information are limited. So if that’s the case, then perhaps we can reduce CNNgo to simply a gallery of soundbites from CNN.
We’re guessing people will want to know more about a topic but they can’t get more from CNNgo. But who knows, there might be a premium version someday.
