Mobile users now rarely play their own music files as they rely on the glut of music streaming services available like Spotify, Pandora, Google Play Music, Amazon Prime Music, etc. But there are still some apps there that are better than your phone’s local music player. CloudPlayer is one of those and actually may be better than some because it plays music from your cloud services. The latest update now also lets you create and play playlists that are on the cloud.

If you’re not yet familiar with the app, CloudPlayer by doubleTwist lets you create your own personal music streaming service as it integrates not just your music locally stored on your device but those that are stored in your Dropbox, OneDrive, and Google Drive. It then creates a “giant cloud jukebox” which you can access and manage from your various Android devices, of course as long as you log in using your Google account.

What the update brings is the ability to backup and restore the playlists you’ve made. So even if you lose or change your device, your playlists will not disappear. And whatever changes you make to said playlists, it will propagate to all your Android devices. This feature has actually been around but only for subscribers. Now even those who are using the service for free will be able to save their playlists too.

You can check your CloudPlayer Google Play page to see if the update has rolled out to you already. If not, just be patient a little while longer and keep making those playlists.
