Before people started going crazy over the current incarnation of number puzzle games like 2048 and its ilk, a few years back, there was Drop7. But developer Zynga surprisingly stopped updating or improving it, that is, until now. They have now rebooted the game that was one of the first puzzle game successes, but it seems like not everyone is crazy about the changes they made.

After three years, the gameplay still has not changed. You still need to match a series of blocks (numbered one to seven) to the row length correspondent to their digits. There are three game modes that you can choose from now: Classic mode, Blitz mode that ends in quick rounds, and the Sequence mode. Of course, now the music, graphics, and even the menu system have been totally overhauled in keeping with new design aesthetics. But the louder and funkier look does not agree with a lot of people who preferred the quieter, simpler older version.

But what has really annoyed people is the introduction of banner ads, and sometimes, even full-screen video ads, that may sometimes interrupt your concentration and game flow. The average scores have also been done away with, and the over-all theme of the game has been lightened.

There are also several new features that newbies might like, including a tutorial and support for the Game Center, so you can now save your scores and see how your buddies are doing. You can download Drop7 for free from the Google Play Store. If you’re annoyed with the ads, you can make an in-app purchase of $3.49 and they will go away.
