Chromecast has proven to be a very useful streaming device. If you have it at home, I’m pretty sure you’ve been enjoying casting funny babies and cat videos. And when you have guests over, everyone just wants to get on it and share new discoveries on YouTube. Now, Google made it easier for your guests to cast without having to connect to WiFi at first. The guest mode allows any Android device user in the same room to cast to the host’s TV easily.
Setting up Guest Mode is easy. Launch the Chromecast app on your Android tablet or phone, select “Devices” from the navigation drawer, choose the Chromecast device, then tap the “Guest mode”, and turn “on”.
The recent Chromecast update also gave the app some Material Design love. You’ll notice the change in UI following Google’s new design requirements. Screen mirroring has also been added but is still in beta mode for devices running at least Android 4.4.2+. Update is slowly being released by Google in stages. You can try downloading from the Google Play Store or from this download link.
Family and friends sharing content to your Chromecast will make any house party fun. Imagine sharing all those funny videos you’ve seen recently on YouTube and you’re guaranteed to have a whole night full of laughter (or maybe tears for some).
