8-bit games will probably be always in style, no matter how many advanced graphics or “hi tech” games you have around. Maybe it’s for nostalgia or for the simplicity of its look and feel, there will always be mobile gamers who would look for game of that ilk. You can now enjoy one of them in the gaming person of Asciid, a new game on Android where you get to switch from the light side or the dark side, well, literally.

But even though Asciid is 8-bit, it can actually be pretty dangerous and will even get bloody. Your goal is to survive the various weapons you’ll meet along the way, like wrecking balls (the actual weapon not the song), saw blades, floaters, bobbers, spikes. You will need to switch from the light and dark sides all throughout the game by swiping up or down, just to avoid being maimed or decapitated by said weapons. You need to grab the keys in order to get to the door and escape to the next level.

There are 50 unique campaign levels in this game, plus unlock able levels where there are randomly generated games with infinite combinations. Aside from swiping up and down to switch sides and to actually jump, you can also swipe left or right to move your 8-bit character across the screen. And in case you actually get caught by the weapons, be prepared by the spray of blood.

You can download Asciid for free from the Google Play Store. There are also in-app purchases available.
