Just when we thought we were almost past the age of putting “gender” on gadgets, along comes a device that is being heavily marketed for women, together with all the gender stereotypes that comes along with it. Chinese brand Keeco Mobile has released a smartphone called K1 which is colored bright pink (of course, because all women love pink apparently) and its shape was especially designed to fit “the small hands of a woman.” Oh please, let them release this in the US so we’ll have more fun mocking it!

We have nothing against targeting a specific demographic for your product. After all, it’s how advertising and marketing has been functioning for decades now. But to use all the usual gender stereotypes women have been fighting against for some time now is pretty unintentionally hilarious (and not in a haha kind of way). The phone’s shape, called the “double v” is a weird hexagonal shape because apparently, women don’t like the usual rectangular shape that are more fit for men. It comes in “cute colors” and even has an 8MP front-facing camera because women love to take selfies all the time.

As for the other specs of the device, it has a 5-inch 720p display, is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, has 2GB RAM and 16GB of expandable internal storage. It has a 13MP main camera and runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop. The specs are decent but not so awesome, compared to others in its range, But what makes this even more for women is that it has a photo software that “automatically makes your skin look delicate and smooth.”

Oh and did we mention that the marketing image for the phone shows the device surrounded by make-up? Well, we still don’t know how much the Keeco Mobile K1 will actually cost and what China’s female market feels about this. Let’s wait and see.
