Well that was quick. Chainfire, probably considered an Android coding legend at this point in time, has announced that his team has achieved root access to Samsung’s newest flagship, the Galaxy S6. The new flagship smartphone was launched recently at the MWC 2015, and it’s a bit of a surprise – well, the good kind – that root access has been achieved so quickly.

Chainfire announced that root access was achieved through the team’s patented CF-Auto-Root process, but this is basically only for the SM-G920T and SM-G925T models, which are the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S6 and the S6 Edge respectively. Chainfire also announced that applying the CF-Auto-Root will most likely trip Samsung’s KNOX in-phone security system. The significance of this is that you might not be able to use your Galaxy S6 for wireless payment processes if the KNOX security has been tripped.

So, that’s something for you to think about, especially if you plan to use your device for wireless/cashless/cardless payments. That being said, root access serves as the door to many wonderful tweaks for the new Samsung device, if you can live without the KNOX security.

If you plan to do this, the CF-Auto-Root flashable files are available where they usually are, at Chainfire’s repository. Check the source link below for the download links.
