The Sony Camera Remote API from more than two years ago successfully let smartphones and tablets control Sony cameras. It’s one useful feature that can now work with the latest Sony SmartWatch 3 via the Camera Remote Control. The new app allows the wearable device to take photos, start and stop videos, control shutter, preview photos captured remotely, and check the angle of your Sony digital camera.
Developed by Sony Mobile Communications, this Camera Remote Control works with Sony Action cams. Supported models include HDR-AZ1, HDR-AS100V, HDR-AS30V, HDR-AS20, FDR-X1000V, and HDR-AS200V. The application is something we’ve seen and tried before but this updated version can be used with the SmartWatch 3. Even without a smartphone or tablet, you can just use your new smartwatch to take photos and videos.
The Sony SmartWatch 3 as remote control for a camera sounds cool but it’s designed to be more than that. App is definitely useful we hope more devices and home appliances will have something like this. Imagine being able to control your TV, computer, and any other smart home devices at home with your SmartWatch 3 or any other wearable. The possibilities are endless but this Camera Remote Control app is exclusive for the Sony smartwatch and the Sony Action cameras we listed above.
