If you have hidden anger at your boss, you know that you can never unleash that on him/her, unless you plan to resign and not get your backpagy and maybe even go to jail for assault. Your only other option just to let out all that aggression is through digital games. Beatdown! is a side-scrolling arcade game with retro graphics, and here, the “big bad” is not an alien or a zombie or evil pigs, but rather your very own boss.
But lest you think this is just an “I’m so angry at my boss so let me beat him up digitally” kind of game, he really is a bad dude, having unjustly fired you after years of loyal service to the company. And instead of attacking, you’re actually just defending yourself from his minions that are bent on hurting you. Hit them before they get to hit you and your power bar gets to zero. There are two modes in this game: the leveled gameplay and the non-scrolling mode. The former has 20 levels and is the side-scrolling version as waves of enemies (30 different kinds) come down upon you. There are also boss levels (literally) featuring 5 different enemies.
The endless non-scrolling mode means you’re just standing there as waves also attack you and you try your best to defend yourself. There are also combo/rage attacks that will help you raise your points more. The game has three different control schemes: a new one, an analog one, and if you prefer adding controllers to your device, you can also use a d-pad.
Beatdown! is available to download from the Google Play Store. You just need to pay a small amount of $0.99 to be able to unleash all your inner aggression onto your smartphone or tablet.
