When you want to relax and wile away your time, it’s not a bad idea to play something cute, colorful, simple, but challenging on your mobile device. A new game called Brickies is trying to apply for that game position, and it does meet the criteria. If you love classic breakout games like Arkanoid, then you’ll definitely be challenged by this new game with a more modern take and is now available for your Android devices.

The object of the game of course is to break the bricks in each level by bouncing a ball from the paddles at the bottom of the screen. But instead of just the regular rectangular shaped bricks arranged in an orderly row, each level brings you something different, trickier bosses, weirder shapes, and more challenging puzzles. But unlike most breakout games where you die when your paddle misses your ball, here it just “deactivates” the ball, waiting for you to bounce it again so you can continue breaking bricks.

There are over 100 levels to complete in this game and you need to beat the timer in order to collect the three stars. You can also choose to play the endless mode if you have more time to waste so you can have endless action. There are of course various power-ups to help you get through the levels faster. The graphics are colorful and modern, the sound effects cute and soothing, and the music not that annoying, unlike other cutesy games.

You can download Brickies from the Google Play Store for free. There are in-app purchases available and since this game is something kids can play, make sure you fix your settings so they can’t buy IAPs that are more than you want to pay for.
