I see many projects come across KickStarter and I will admit that most of them are rather boring items. I ran across one today that is really cool though. It reminds me of the AR.Drone only this thing is called the BlueDrone and it is a RC car not helicopter. Considering I like the GTR, RC stuff, and Android apps this is one of the coolest things I have seen in a long time.
The car uses Bluetooth connection between the Android smartphone and the vehicle for control. It will work with Android 2.1 and higher and the controls are on the touchscreen. The car is powered by three AAA batteries and has a 30-foot range from the smartphone. As cool as the BlueDrone is, it is looking for more money than I have ever seen someone ask for on KickStarter.
The project is seeking $200,000 and so far it has raised $2,908 of that amount. It has another 25 days to go so it had better start getting backers fast. The app also allows the user to tilt the phone and use the accelerometer inside to control the car. The car is 8″ x 3.2″ x 2.75″ and weighs a bit more than half a pound.
