BLU Products continues its promise to deliver some of the greatest unlocked phones in the US. The last models we saw were the Vivo Air LTE and Pure XL shown off in Last Vegas at the US CTIA event. Back in February, the company introduced the Studio Energy phone with a 45-day battery. This particular phone now has a follow up in the form of the BLU Studio Energy 2 and BLU Energy X.
Yes, that’s two new smartphones sporting really big batteries. The BLU Studio Energy 2 and BLU Energy X can last up to three (3) days on standard usage of calls, SMS, and basic web browsing. On standby mode, they can last up to a maximum of 30 days. That’s impressive for devices that are priced below $200. You see, these are just entry-level phones now available on Amazon for only $179 and $109, respectively.
The BLU Studio Energy 2 comes with a 5000 mAh battery. It’s packed in a slim solid aircraft grade aluminum that’s surprisingly only 10mm thin. Phone’s build looks very durable you’d think its a premium device but it’s just a simple smartphone with standard specs. There’s even 4G/LTE connectivity so you can access the Internet anywhere where there is coverage in the US.
Other specs include the following: 64-Bit MediaTek MT6735 processor, 5-inch Super AMOLED Display, Corning Gorilla Glass 3, 294ppi, 8MP main camera, 5MP front-facing cam, Auto Focus and Auto Exposure, 1.5GB RAM, 16GB built-in storage, microSD card slot for memory expansion, and Android 5.0 Lollipop.
Meanwhile, the more affordable BLU Energy X packs a smaller 4000 mAh battery–smaller but still bigger than what most smartphones in the market currently have. It’s even slimmer at only 8mm but it features Dual SIM support already. There’s 4G LTE connectivity, aluminum metal casing, a more rugged build, 5 inch HD display screen, 294 ppi, Corning Gorilla Glass 3, 8megapixel main camera, 2MP front-facing cam, 1.3GHz Quad Core MediaTek 6580 processor, 8GB built-in memory, 1GB RAM, and a expandable Micro SD slot. Phone runs Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box. Two variants are available on Amazon right now: Luxury Gold and Midnight Grey.
The 30-day battery life of the smartphones sounds really impressive but the first version of the BLU Studio Energy could last up to 45 days on standby mode with its 5,000mAh battery. We’re not complaining about the change because a 30-day battery life is still an achievement.
