We may not know BlackBerry’s current numbers but we’re hoping that the BlackBerry PRIV will improve the standing of the Canadian smartphone pioneer. The first ever Android-powered BlackBerry phone is now available at a discounted price in select key markets. We also learned recently that it’s out in Japan, Australia, South Africa, India, France, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Israel, and Nigeria. Another country can be added to the list: Mexico.
There’s no grand tech launch that happened in Mexico but the BlackBerry smartphone is now on Amazon Mexico. Head on to Amazon.com.mx and check again what you’ll be getting from the PRIV. Price listed is 15,863.95 Mexican Peso which is about $905. That’s very expensive even for a premium flagship phone. The PRIV is now listed with a $649 price tag ShopBlackBerry but in the United States only–still expensive.
As for the Mexicans who’ve only been waiting for the smartphone, be ready to shell out a lot of money. You can always get the phone in installment terms or with a monthly fee under an eligible phone line. We have no idea though which mobile carrier in the country will start offering the PRIV directly.
Just wait for an official announcement or invitation from BlackBerry anytime soon.
