Portable Bluetooth speakers are a dime a dozen now (not literally of course), but it never hurts to have several options available so you can choose the one that suits you best. The new Beoplay A1 makes its case as a small and cute-looking aluminum grill type speaker which still packs some sound power and is portable enough that you can just stick it into your bag and bring it wherever you go. And it is by Bang & Olufsen so you are assured that it is a quality product.
The polished aluminum design, together with its seemingly sturdy base, makes this 600g portable speaker stand out among the usual super colorful and similar looking ones out there. The aforementioned aluminum grill combined with the polymer base makes it both warm and cool and not just some nondescript object where music comes out from. It is also scratch and dust resistant, so even if you’re going camping or somewhere in the great outdoors, you can still use it without fear of lasting damage.
Being a Bang & Olufsen product also ensures that it is of the highest quality, audio-wise as it has its Signature Sound. It has ambient True 360 sound, so wherever you place it, you’ll be able to hear clearly because of its excellent sound dispersion. It is powerful enough with its 2×140 W so you don’t need to stand close to it to hear properly as it has an audible range of 60-24,000 Hz. It can last 24 hours (at a moderate volume level though) and can easily be charged with whatever USB charging you use.
The only catch? Of course you cannot expect that it will be cheap. The Beoplay A1, which is part of the more affordable B&O brand, is still a steep catch at $250. You will probably be able to get other portable speakers of its category at way less than that, but if what we just described appeals to you and you have money to spare, why not splurge on it?
