PopCaps is by far one of the leaders in online games. They have had many incredibly popular hits and last year we heard about their plans to bring several of their most popular to the Android platform. Now we have a bit more information with a timeline from the company.
We now know:
- Bejeweled 2 will be released into the Android Market this week
- Chuzzle, Peggle, and Plants vs. Zombies are still on track for release in the second quarter of 2011.
- They are not going to utilize OpenFeint, but they may use Facebook Connect.
Still not as soon as many would have hoped, it’s good to see them still set to launch in the first half of 2011. The reason for the delay is simple, PopCap does not simply port their games to other platforms. They completely optimize them for the platform they’re developing for. This leaves users with a more satisfying and immersive title which leads to better gameplay.
Are you excited for the upcoming PopCap titles? Personally I can see both Plants Vs. Zombies and Peggle to be huge time wasters in my day-to-day life, I’m ready!

If you are waiting for Plants vs Zombies, definitely check out Humans vs Aliens. It is pretty similar and only $0.99, here’s a video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ozo_1lH1qI&hd=1
Pocket Gamer is the wrong source, as it relates to a different and much more vague information. Here’s the right one: http://www.androidnews.de/popcap-interview-exclusive

Welcome to the reason why Android is 20 steps behind Iphone.
Iphone get hit games with no wait and no problems. We have to wait lieraly YEARS for a conversions of games that ALREADY works on iphone. Rockband/GuitarrockTour2HD/PVZ/Deadspace just as example
If this was the idea, aticipation to boost sales. Then the guy who thought of it should lose their job…
Like most people have lost hope that android will EVER keep up with iphone….
