There are plenty of micro projectors on the market today that are designed to show content from your smartphone on a bigger screen. A new projector has turned up called Beam that bills itself as a smart projector. The part about Beam that is different from the rest is that it screws into a light bulb socket.
The people behind Beam say that once you screw it into the socket, you can watch movies, play games, and share content from your device. It can be set to wake you up in the morning with news that happened overnight, updates from social media, or to show you updates when you get home from work.
Beam has integrated speakers so you can listen to music and audio from videos without needing a separate speaker. Beam runs the Android operating system and supports any app in the Google Play Store. However, the Beam projector can be controlled from Apple or Android devices.
One of the coolest features is “If Then” ability that lets you set up tasks for Beam such as playing a video message if someone comes home after a certain time. Beam is on Kickstarter now seeking $200,000 and has raised over $100,000 so far. A pledge of $399 or more will get you a Beam with delivery expected in October 2015.
