With just 9 months to go until the release of Episode VII, fans will try to get their hands on everything Star Wars until then. The expected success of the Star Wars Rebels animated series has led to some great multi-media tie-ups, from a comic series to action figures, etc. Now we have an Android game that lets you become an intergalactic hero out to battle against the Empire. Welcome to Star Wars Rebels: Recon.
Ezra Bridger is one of the most popular characters in the animated series, and in this game, you actually get to be him as you take on an adventure trying to fight alongside the small band of Rebel forces. In this action-platformer, you get to drive an Imperial AT-MP as you dodge TIE fighters. To earn boosts, you need to collect hope and give it to the citizens you encounter along the way. You can also customize your Rebel Haven, adding living units, towers, even art, as you collect enough points and boosts to be able to buy these materials.
The first four levels of the game are free to play. But you need to make an in-app purchase to be able to play the next 30 levels. And if you’ve always wanted to wield a light saber, albeit virtually, then you need to play these next levels because you can play Kanan Jarus, the cowboy Jedi. You can also use your twin-blasters by taking on the role of Sabine Wren, the explosive artist.
You can download Star Wars Rebels: Recon for free from the Google Play Store. As we mentioned, you need to make an in-app purchase to be able to play after you’ve completed level 4. As the folks in the universe say, “May the force be with you.”
