You wouldn’t think that a game featuring 8 bit retro-style graphics with microbes and cells would necessarily appeal to a large group pf people right? But you don’t really have to be a microbiologist to be able to appreciate and understand this weird game. KromacelliK, now available for Android devices, is weird, challenging, a little hard to understand, but ultimately satisfying once you’ve figured out what it is you’re supposed to be doing.
The ultimate objective of the game is to link to the other cells and them get them to the next level by choosing the right exit. On paper, it sounds simple. But actually doing it is another thing. You’re tapping and absorbing the larger, inert organisms, but you also need to avoid those that will harm you, kind of like trying to avoid the bacteria. And the inert organisms? You can use them as weapons against the annoying ones by flinging them into the path of those cells.
KromacelliK has a drag-to-move playing system, although it is sometimes difficult to achieve precision this way. The graphics are weird and gooey and has an 8-bit retro feel to it. There is also an “elegant” soundtrack to guide you along your way towards micro organismic glory.
KromacelliK is available to download from the Google Play Store. You just need to shell out a one-time fee of $0.99. There are no more in-app purchases, so you just get to enjoy the game without any interruptions. And if someone interrupts you, fling a micro organism at them.
