Apparently, drift races are popular in Japan (we apologize for those who don’t recognize the car racing term), hence the movie reference for “Tokyo Drift”. And so we are not surprised that this drift racing game by Bandai Namco called “Drift Spirits” is uber popular in that market, with 5 million downloads in its pocket. Now Bandai Namco is releasing Drift Kings globally, hoping to infect the Android gaming market with some drift fever.
This racing game is actually pretty simple when you get to it. You pick your car from the 40 models (mostly Japanese cars, of course) in the game, but the developers are planning to add international models in view of the international launch of the game. The better car models are available as you progress in the game. As always, there are lots of options to trick out your ride.
Then you bring your ride to compete in short 30-secopnd race sessions. The game controls are simple as well. You can control acceleration and drift speed by timing your taps. Maybe that’s why it’s popular as a casual gaming thing – no difficult controls.
The game will be made available in 40 territories, including the US, UK, France, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Brazil, so check out the download link below to see if the game is available where you are. It’s free to download, with IAPs.
