A little over a week since Qualcomm announced that Quick Charge 3.0 will be coming with Snapdragon 820, 620, 618, 617 and 430, charger-producing brand Aukey has also revealed that they are releasing their first “officially compatible charger” for the new technology. While there aren’t any devices available yet that will be able to use the full potential of these Charge 3.0 compatible chargers, there are still some benefits to having them around as early as now.

The chargers can actually give a range of voltages in 200mV increments so that the correct voltage, from 3.6V to 20V, will be able to reach the desired charge current. This means that you will have lower voltage loss, an increase in the thermal performance of your mobile device resulting in improved efficiency. They will be able to work with both micro and USB type C and is of course backwards compatible.

But once smartphones and tablets with Quick Charge 3.0 hit the market next year, these Aukey charges will really be able to fulfill their purpose on earth. On paper, devices with Quick Charge 3.0 will be able to charge 38% faster than Quick Charge 2.0 and twice as fast as Quick Charge 1.0. The technology itself will have an easy-to-implement design so the OEMs will not have a difficult time incorporating it.

In the meantime, the Aukey chargers can actually charge Quick Charge 2.0 devices from no charge at all to 80% charging, 2 minutes faster than the original OEM charger. This is truly just a little, but 2 minutes is also important especially if you’re on the go. Let’s wait and see how they will stack up once Quick Charge 3.0 is officially out in the market.
