If you have a Samsung Galaxy S6 Active and if you’re subscribed to the AT&T network, now is the time to start making room in your phone for a major active. The carrier has announced that the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update is finally rolling out to users of last year’s flagship’s active variant. Aside from this sweet update, your device will also finally get WiFi calling support, which some AT&T customers are already enjoying when they updated to Marshmallow as well.
The update will be arriving through Firmware Over the Air (FOTA) which has already started rolling out with Build Number MMB29K.G890AUCU3CPE4. But the first thing you should do of course is ensure that your device has enough memory and internal storage space. The file size of the update is 1441MB so some who like living dangerously may not have that enough space. You also need to make sure that your WiFi connection is stable enough so it can finish the download.
Once you’ve updated to Marshmallow, you’ll be able to enjoy things like Google Now on Tap, which lets you have the information you need without having to leave the app or switch between apps. Your battery life should also experience a significant change because of the Doze feature which saves you up on juice. The update will also bring you support for WiFi Calling, so you can make calls even when your network is weak, as long as you have strong WiFi connection.
If you haven’t received yet the notification that the update is available, just be a little patient. You can also manually check it by going to your Settings > About Device > Software Update > Check for Updates.
