What’s the point of having cellular connectivity when you have to get a separate number for your smartwatch? But now with the Samsung Gear S2, the Tizen-powered wearable is getting an update to allow AT&T’s NumberSync to be used on your watch. This means you don’t have to memorize another number or maintain a new one just so people can contact you.
This one is available only for AT&T Gear S2 owners. The NumberSync feature is uniquely AT&T’s. It’s a special service that allows a subscriber to use one number on multiple devices. This means you can be contacted anytime even if you left your phone at home. Service was launched just last October but is only supported on a few models. AT&T is still working to bring the feature to more phones but it’s good to know the Samsung Gear S2 is already included.
AT&T has started offering the Samsung Gear S2 with AT&T NumberSync for only $99.99 but with a two-year contract. It’s the first to support messaging and voice calls with NumberSync. If you already have the Gear S2, get the software update and you’ll see the NumberSync. This service doesn’t need Bluetooth connectivity as cellular connection is enough.
