If you live in Canada and were planning to make a Christmas gift to yourself or to someone else the ASUS Zenfone 3 Deluxe, you might want to look for other options. Representatives from the Taiwanese OEM have confirmed that they have cancelled plans to release the upgraded variant of the Zenfone 3 in the North American country, for undisclosed reasons. But if you can crossover to a certain neighboring country, you might be able to get hold of the smartphone anyway.
ASUS earlier made an announcement that the Zenfone 3 Deluxe will make be available in Canada through Best Buy, Canada Computers, Memory Express, Newegg.ca, and Staples. It was slated to be released early November and even had an SRP of $669 CAD. But of course we’re already at the end of November and we did not see a shadow of the smartphone and so now we have word that we won’t be seeing it in Canada. Some of the sites actually still list the device on their sites, so they may have not been updated yet.
Well, if you’re still bent on having the closest to that device, you can still get the original ASUS Zenfone 3 which is available in Canada for $429.99. The US meanwhile will have the deluxe version but not the original Zenfone 3. No explanation has been forthcoming as to why this is the case.
The ASUS Zenfone 3 Deluxe has a 5.7-inch display and is powered by a 2.15GHz Snapdragon 820 processor with a 653MHz Adreno 530 GPU. It also has 6GB RAM and 64GB internal storage, plus a 23MP main camera with a f/2.0 lens. If it still appeals to you, head on over to the US if you’re in Canada.
