When ASUS Chairman Jonney Shih took the stage at the ASUS launch event pre-IFA 2015, there were a lot of amazing new tech to dig into from the Taiwan-based company. The “world’s fastest router” took center stage, of course. But we’re here to take a good look at the ASUS ZenPad 10 – ostensibly a tablet device, but with combo capabilities due to the stylish keyboard dock.
As always, there will be a bevy of products under this line, as ASUS is wont to do – but in very simple terms, you have a 10.1-inch tablet that docks with a keyboard accessory. The tablet itself will sport a 1280×800 display, not too flashy, and will be powered by Intel Atom quad-core processors, depending on the variant you buy. There will also be a choice of 1GB or 2GB RAM, and 8GB/16GB/32GB of internal storage.
Audio will be heard through 2 front-facing DTS HD Premium Sound speakers, and you also get range of middling cameras – a 5MP/2MP combo will be the best of them. The ZenPad 10 will feature the new iteration of ZenUI which is based on Android Lollipop.
The interesting purchase, though, will be when you buy the ASUS ZenPad 10 with the keyboard dock, rumored to go for around USD$239. Will the ZenPad 10 be able to give you a semi-work friendly environment that will be worth the purchase? Or will this totally be just a vanity device? Watch this space.
